Back to Winning…

What’s up everyone, if you guys didn’t know, we beat Penn this past weekend after losing to Princeton. This win was huge for the seniors on the team (Drew, Andy & myself), because we had not won at Penn in our 4 years here at Harvard. It is crazy to think that we only have 4 games left, but at the same time I am excited and anxious for this chapter of my life to end and for the next one to begin. Though the trip to Princeton and Penn was long, I had some good entertainment on the way back. Other than texting my friend Jessica incessantly, I got a chance to check out the documentaries that I had picked up.

Hardwood Dreams is a real life story that follows 5 kids from Morningside High School in high school as they go through the process of defending their state championship. While this was interesting, the best part of the movie however was the part in which they interviewed all of the kids 10 years later. Though I will not tell you guys how it ends, it is very touching. And a MUST SEE for everyone who has the time. I also saw American Pimp, which while attempting to be serious, just ended up absurd… You always see pimps as they are portrayed by Katt Williams, or other stereotypical movie characters — but this movie had real pimps, who were EXACTLY like the movie characters. I honestly did not know that people like that really existed… Go figure…

On another note, before the Penn game my man Andrew Van Nest and I decided to hit the mall for a little shopping. Along with a sweet Obama T-Shirt, I cam across a great pair of Air Force 1’s… Go to Kicksology to check them out!

Other than that, its time to get to bed, the games this weekend will be my final 2 at Harvard, and I can say I have many memories of the atmosphere here… you guys if you are in the area, should go see the games!

A Catch Up…

Whats up everybody, sorry it took forever for me to get back on this thing, but times are hard and I’ve been busy… Where to begin… We have had 6 games, 4 of which I have been able to play in. Unfortunately, we only won one of them, but it was my first start of the year and it felt great being back on the court. While that is all well and good, my knee did not (and still does not) feel anywhere close to 100%… If I had to put a percentage on it, I would have to go with about 65-70. It is stable, and I can move around; I just can’t really jump or run at the level I used to yet. Despite this, I have been working my tail off (as much as I can) in the weight room and in the practices I am able to participate in. One of the most frustrating parts about this injury, is wanting to do more but being told that you can’t, or that it would not be a good idea. I mean, this is the hand that was dealt to me — so I have no choice but to do everything I can to reach my goal…

Speaking of that, I have also spent some time putting together a workout routine for myself to start when the season is over (in 3 weeks). Though I am going to take some time off (READ: a couple of days, MAYBE a week) from running, I am going to hit the weights HARD the Monday after our season is over. If we don’t play in the postseason, I will just view the extra time as an opportunity to get a head start on the competition… When I am done with the workout, and feel confident with it, feel free to hit me up if you want a copy or just are curious.

Aside from basketball, second semester has started, and with that comes all the new stresses of scheduling and attending classes. I had a little bit of trouble fitting in four classes into my schedule, but I think I have settled on some good ones. This semester I am taking Intro to Buddhism, Social Interaction, The Making of Christianity and a seminar on Bioethics and Global Medicine. I had been contemplating taking a class on Jihad and International Relations to the Muslim World, but it just seemed too hard (sorry Amy). Because of this relatively light class schedule, I have been able to spend a lot of time trying to put together this workout plan for myself and still watching a ton of 24. I just finished up Season 3 on our last road trip, and look forward to getting Season 4 in the mail soon. For this upcoming weekend, we have games at Princeton and at Penn, and I have a couple of documentaries and a book to keep me company. I have a documentary called Hardwood Dreams, which is about the Morningside High School Basketball team – which is about 10 minutes from my house in LA — I’ll be sure to tell you guys on Sunday or Monday how it is.

That’s about it for now, I can’t leave you guys without a song of the week (or month)– It’s a little old school, but still makes me remember home…

PS… I got some new shoes… more pictures and a little description to come at the beginning of next week…
