10 hours…

WARNING – this will be long, and will probably have typos, sorry. Also, if you don’t care about music or my writing, skip the whole first part… you’ll be bored out of your mind… Continue reading

Timisoara (pt. 1)

What’s up everybody, sorry I have been out of touch for awhile, after we got back from our game in Timisoara, my internet rather conveniently stopped working… go figure huh? So as I write this, I’m back in the same internet cafe where I was pretty much a month ago, trying to stay in touch with the outside world as much as possible… Well anyways, I’m sure you guys want to hear about the game. The final score was 96-69 bad guys. To be honest though, the final score was decieving. We had the momentum going into the half, only down 12, then just dropped the ball in the 3rd quarter. It’s okay though, we have a game with the same team (gotta love that pro schedule) tomorrow, and we won’t lose by 30. I promise.

During the game I actually played pretty well. Especially defensively. Had some nice blocks and steals, hopefully this game we can have a better team effort defensively. I now know why we used to practice nothing but defense in college some days. Communication is very tough when not everyone is speaking the same language, and has different ideas of defensive fundamentals. Tough.. But oh well, that’s the life — this is my job, so I just have to find a way to win.

Aside from basketball I have been filling my time with a lot of gadgets. Finally got my 360 up and running, so I have been taking on all challengers on my team in NBA Live or College football (must say I have an unfair advantage because half of them think its college soccer up until the game starts). Also just got a PSP, so that has been key on bus trips. Its crazy, I’ve wanted one for a long time, but just now realized how cool they are. It has skype on it, so I can make skype calls directly from my PSP which is pretty cool (MORE OF YOU GET AT ME ON SKYPE!). Along with the gadgets, the blackberry I ordered just got to my house in LA, which means in 8 or 9 days I’ll have it here in Romania, lol. All of you guys with Blackberry gotta tell me your PINs, because BBM is free internationally :).

That’s about it for me out here, off to go beat down Darko again in NBA Live… Find me on XBOX Live – EH22. And leave comments! I love hearing from everyone. I can’t leave you guys without a quote, this one from my man Dom Kennedy from Liemert Park, CA. “If you want to own a building, start by mopping the floor.” Food for thought…

I’m So Ambitious…

I apologize. This will be short. And a lot of run on sentences. But I just had to write a little tonight. Most people hear that I am a professional basketball player and assume that life is great and I got the “easy way out.” This couldnt be further from the truth. As of now, I live a very monotonous, simple life. Wake up, eat, run, lift, shoot, eat again, nap, go to practice, eat again, sleep. Not the most fun day in the world. Everyone I talked to before I left for Romania said that being a GOOD pro was going to be a grind, I had no idea it would be like this.

A couple of days ago, I rededicated myself to my career. I was lucky enough to get a job, blessed enough to keep a job, now need to get down to work. If I am going to make a good living out of this basketball thing, I am going to have to be more serious about it than I ever have been. This means, no drinking, no partying, no nothing. Every day, I am going to do something to make myself a better basketball player. Whether that is stretching, or sleeping, or watching an NBA game, by the time I come home for the summer I will be a completely different player. So for those of you in Romania (or America for that matter), if you ever hear of or see me veering of course, remind why I’m really here in Romania… Thats it for now, sorry for being so short and serious, but I got a good blog post coming by the end of the weekend… And for those of you who are wondering about the title, its from the Blueprint 3… listen to it below and tell me what you think.

Obscure music reference of the day, kudos and a Romanian souvenir if you can figure out why this belongs in this post…

Resillience with a Taste of Chicago…

Recap of a crazy week, featuring some new music, as well a couple pictures (like I promised).. Let me begin by saying, Elizabeth Miller of San Diego, Ca hit me up after my last blog and said that I didn’t include enough about basketball… So I’m going to try to talk more about the true business side of Euro basketball, and not just about Romania. Hope you like it… Continue reading
